Reading shouldn’t feel this hard.

When reading, spelling, or writing feels harder for your child than it seems to for everyone else, it can be difficult to know what to do next. You may have been told to give it time, practice more at home, or simply wait for them to catch up, but you're still watching your child struggle with the same things.

At Everbright Dyslexia Tutoring, I provide personalized, one-on-one reading instruction for children who need a different approach to learning.

Using structured, Orton-Gillingham-based instruction, we break reading and spelling down into clear, manageable steps and build from a strong foundation. Lessons move at your child's pace, giving them the time, repetition, and encouragement they need to truly understand what they're learning, not simply memorize it.

My goal isn't just to help your child become a stronger reader. It is to help them experience those moments when something that once felt confusing finally starts to make sense, and to build the confidence that comes with realizing, "I can do this."

With the right support, things can start to click.

Does any of this sound familiar?

If some of these sound familiar, you're in the right place.

When a bright, capable child continues to struggle with reading despite practice and support, more practice isn't always the answer. Sometimes they need a different way of being taught.

  • Reading the same word correctly on one page and struggling with it on the next

  • Guessing words based on the first letter or the picture

  • Reading slowly or avoiding reading altogether

  • Difficulty sounding out unfamiliar words

  • Spelling the same word differently several times

  • Becoming frustrated when asked to read aloud

  • Doing well in other areas but finding reading unusually difficult

Why Orton-Gillingham works

A DIFFERENT APPROACH

Reading can be taught step by step.

By building each new skill on a strong foundation, students can move from understanding individual sounds to reading words and sentences with greater independence.

For many struggling readers, simply practicing more isn't enough. They need to understand how words work, how sounds connect to letters, how those sounds come together to form words, and how patterns in our language can make reading more predictable.

At Everbright Dyslexia Tutoring, my instruction is grounded in the Orton-Gillingham approach, helping make these connections clear.

Rather than asking students to memorize words or guess from context, we break language into smaller, manageable pieces and build from there. Each new skill builds on what your child has already learned, with plenty of practice and review along the way.

The result is an approach that is:

Clear & Direct
Skills are taught directly and clearly instead of expecting students to discover patterns on their own.

Structured & Sequential
We begin with foundational skills and gradually build toward more complex reading and spelling concepts.

Multisensory
Students learn through a combination of seeing, hearing, saying, and doing—creating multiple ways to understand and remember what they're learning.

Personalized
Lessons respond to your child's individual strengths, challenges, and progress rather than following a one-size-fits-all pace.

We don't rush through what hasn't clicked yet.

We slow things down, find the missing pieces, and build from there. One skill, one word, and one success at a time.

Helping Potential Shine Through

Every child has their own way of learning and their own strengths waiting to be discovered. When reading and writing feel especially difficult, it can be easy for frustration to overshadow everything they do well. I believe those challenges should never determine how a child sees themselves or what they believe they can achieve.

My approach begins with getting to know each student and understanding how they learn best. I believe children learn best when they feel comfortable and enjoy the process, which is why I make an effort to keep lessons engaging, lighthearted, and encouraging. I want each child to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and working through challenges at their own pace.

While building strong literacy skills is at the heart of our lessons, my hope extends beyond reading and writing. I want each student to recognize their progress, celebrate their successes, and develop greater confidence in themselves as a learner. Sometimes, a small moment of “I did it!” can be the beginning of something much bigger.
